What a busy month June was! I couldn’t find anytime to stop let alone write. So I bring you a back dated Stories Of A Dad ‘Weekly’ – ish.
We celebrated Bobby’s 7th Birthday, with a quiet, chill day. We took him to a zombie training camp, where we trained as soldiers. Laser quest style! Then we had a few games bowling and a BBQ. Still unsure how we have successfully raised a child for more than 7 years though.
At the start on June I took part in an amazing campaign to try and raise awareness for mental health and body confidence. It resulted in me and a group of dads from The Dad Network striping of and posing in front of camera. The campaign dubbed #FatherFigures reached the national press, with my naked bod on display. We couldn’t be happier with the response, a successful campaign all round. We made it into The Independent, Metro, and the Huff Post.
The month also saw Bobby play in his first competitive football matches, after a year of training in an academy he signed for another team. Making his debut coming on as substitute. Making us all super proud everyday. The happiness on his face when he’s playing sports is something else.
I took a trip to the ‘big smoke’ for a day at DadCon, a big workshop and social conference for dads, learning all about fitness, finance, first aid, relationships and beer. This was a great day out meeting some great people and learning some good advice. Needless to say, I couldn’t commute to London on a train all week! Once was exhausting enough!
I also played in a football tournament, got a group of lads together and had a ball. Painful for days after but it’s all good! We played like a group of tired dads. Simply because that’s what we were.
Anyway, that’s us all caught up for now. I’m now off to climb some mountains.
